A short visit to San Francisco with a day-trip by air from SF to Portland. I got a lift to Rio Vista from the City (as the locals call SF) and for a moderate fee I had a “motorman all day” and could choose which vehicles to take out onto the line. They never run the Key System bridge units during summer – very hot inside (there are no windows that open). Running with the front door open it was still like standing in front of an open oven.
