How did it all start at tramway.com?

We used to run many different websites over the years. It all began like this (screengrab from waybackMachine at archive.org from 2004):

We may show more “from the archive” material in the future (but always just a selection of the best)! It looks like our earliest web presence was in 1996 (archiv.org did not start archiving websites until 2001)

Posts for Travels 2011 and 2013 are now available again (we added many new photos and replaced all the missing ones) Travels 2012 and 2014 are still offline as we need to upload all the missing pics. A post from 2008 has been added again (with some additional photos). A post about the tram museum in Schepdaal from trammuseum.org has been added.

On our website you will mainly find photos from our visits around the globe to ride and photograph trams (streetcars/trolleys), trolleybuses (ETBs), metros (subways) and related transit modes. There are also some fleet lists (rosters) and the odd historic scan. The photos include many views taken in depots. All these visits were official and photos taken with permission. Enjoy! If you are interested in joining us on the VDVA tours in Europe, visit the www.vdva.de website (we do one big tour every year and usually weekend tours). In 2023 we will visit Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim (as our main tour).
